So with a 8″ hexagon I wrap this around a 6″ hexagon with the wadding in between, tuck the edges under twice, clip the quilting binding clips to hold and stitch down. I chose to hand stitch all my hexies with a fine slip stitch then I will hand stitch all them together into rows. I only need 360 hexies each for top, middle and bottom – 18 hexagons x 20 rows to fit a King Size bed.
This quilt may look daunting to you but actually its is a super easy fun project which is very portable and a good way to use up scraps. I am totally enjoying making it up as this is my way of relaxing and you often find me on the lounge watching a soppy movie stitching away.
If you are not into hand stitching they can be stitched around the edges on the sewing machine with a straight stitch and joined together with either a decorative stitch or a plain zig zag. Either way this is a great project for a beginner or someone who wants to whip up a quick quilt by machine.
