Just a couple of places are left at our next sewing retreat, and we’d love to sew with you. Our venue is set in picturesque bushland in Boonah just over an hour out of Brisbane. Linen, meals, washing up – it’s all taken care of so you can dedicate your weekend to sewing.
Customers have asked us if you need to be an experienced sewist in order to come along to a retreat. The answer is NO! There are plenty of us with a few years experience under our belts and the exchange of knowledge at retreats is one of the most valuable parts of the experience. We’re all sewing a huge variety of things whether it be kids’ or adult’s clothing, patchworking, hand embroidery or bras.
Our retreats are the just the trick for relaxing and spending time away from your busy life, while developing your hobby amongst people of all ages and experiences.
New sewists welcome, always!
We can take payments over the phone.
We’ve just gotten back from our October sewing retreat and unpacked our sewing machines after a brilliant weekend. I know I thoroughly enjoyed myself, even though I was a little ambitious… I’d planned to finish three shirts for my dad, husband and brother but only managed to finish my dad’s very loud Hawaiian shirt! I think I was too busy chatting and laughing with the lovely ladies, we had such a great group. The weekend certainly hit a high note as we all belted out Bohemian Rhapsody on Saturday night!
We were pretty much evenly split between quilting and dressmaking, with a few handbags thrown in. Our group had beginners and experts aged 28-70, all helping each other out. It was wonderful to be around women with a passion for sewing and a wealth of knowledge.
Due to overwhelming demand, the sewing retreats will be back next year. If you’re interested in finding out more, click here and hop on to our mailing list so you can find out first and claim a spot. The company is wonderful, the showers are hot, the food is scrumptious, the beds are cozy, the dishes are done for you, and the laughs are soul-healing! (Oh and apparently we do some sewing too.)

I want to tell you all about the Sewing Retreat we had last weekend. I used to go to Retreat quite regularly, from memory five a year, but you know life takes over and for some reason I just never got back to it. I am so glad I organized this Retreat and intend to keep them going.
For me the best part of a Retreat is how friendly everyone is and how much I enjoyed their company. While it can be over-whelming meeting new strangers we all share sewing as our common interest no matter what type or level sewist you happen to be.
It feels great to set aside that time to attend a retreat to foster your creativity, get inspired, share your experiences but also to recharge yourself for the hustle and bustle of everyday life. You never know you may just walk away with more than just completed projects.
On our weekend, Retreaters brought their own sewing machines and projects that they either yearned to start or ones to be finished. We had a big warm room with ample space to spread out where we could sew from sun up to sun down without interruptions from children or partners.
All meals were catered by myself and I feel that the meals were delicious and plentiful. I wanted each attendee to feel relaxed, important and not have to worry about meals. So I was more than happy to cater for anyone who is vegetarian, gluten free or dairy free not only to make them feel special but because it makes me learn too.
I came home tired but energized, my heart full and satisfied, new friends and cannot wait for the next Retreat.
If you would like to retreat with us we have the next one planned for October just let me know.
